About the role

DroneShield is seeking an Embedded Software Architect with relevant experience to join the team in Sydney, NSW. The position will report to the VP of Embedded Systems. The primary focus of the role is to develop and maintain DroneShield’s Linux based software. Working closely with entire embedded team software team to innovate and enhance DroneShield’s world leading sensor platform. It represents an exceptional opportunity for a result-driven individual in a new niche but exploding market.

Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations

  • Design and lead the architecture for the embedded sensor platform
  • Drive the appropriate processes, procedures, software practices and tools throughout the development life cycle
  • Work with multiple smaller teams of embedded software engineers
  • Documentation of software architecture and processes and policies
  • Work with the engineering team to ensure reliable and robust end to end system operation
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to team members.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Software, Electronic Engineer or similar field of study or equivalent practical experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience
  • Python, C++, Go
  • Inter-device communication using gRPC, REST, raw TCP/UDP, high performance messaging protocols
  • Development tools including Git, Jira, Confluence, CICD
  • Architecture design
  • Hardware in the loop CICD design
  • Build systems for embedded devices.
