About Thales:
With 80.000 talents working in 68 countries, Thales is one of the biggest high-tech employers in the field of safety and security. In the Netherlands, where 2,500 employees are based, Thales is located in seven cities: Huizen, Amersfoort, Rotterdam, Delft, Breda, Eindhoven and Hengelo (HQ). Together with an extensive ecosystem of knowledge partners, customers and suppliers, Thales works on radars for naval vessels, cyber security solutions, transportation systems, communication equipment for land forces, cryogenic cooling solutions, research & development for radar tech (in collaboration with TU Delft).
The software department of the Application Engineering cluster is responsible for the software development in Combat Management and Radar- and Optical sensors for worldwide navies- and defence systems. The work is performed in multi-disciplinary agile teams with specialists in software/system/test engineering and functional design.
About the assignment:
Thales is currently revamping their mobility policy, which includes their lease policy and commuting allowances. Over half of their employees still commute by car, even though most live within 12 kilometres of their workplace. Thales is committed to significantly reducing its CO2 emissions, a large portion of which comes from commuting. Encouraging employees to bike or use public transport can make a substantial impact on meeting their sustainability goals.
Currently, Thales has various ways to track how employees commute to work, but they lack a system to register bicycle commutes and integrate them into their payroll. Your task will be to research and implement a system for registering and processing bicycle commutes. The aim is to have this system operational by January 1, 2025.
This is a hands-on assignment with immediate impact on the organisation. You will interact with a diverse range of stakeholders, including IS/IT for system integration, their labor lawyer to ensure privacy compliance, the Works Council for internal communication, and potentially external vendors for purchasing tools.
Affinity: Thales is looking for someone who can think in processes, is not afraid to reach out to various departments or external parties, and can effectively manage deadlines.
