Job Duties Summary: The Project Scheduler and Coordinator plays a critical role in project management by ensuring effective planning, monitoring, and control of project schedules using Primavera P6. This professional collaborates with project teams, stakeholders, and management to optimise project performance, cost, and schedule adherence.

Major Functional Areas and Description of Duties:

Schedule Development:

  • Create and maintain project schedules using Primavera P6, incorporating work breakdown structures (WBS), activities, milestones, and dependencies.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Develop baseline schedules and update them as needed throughout the project lifecycle.


  • Ensure data consistency and accuracy across control accounts and systems.
  • Integrate Primavera P6 with other project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Excel) as needed.

Progress Tracking and Reporting:

  • Monitor project progress by tracking actual work completed against the schedule.
  • Generate regular progress reports, variance analyses, and forecasts.
  • Communicate project status to stakeholders, highlighting risks and opportunities.
  • Implement EVM principles to assess project performance.
  • Calculate and analyze key EVM metrics, including:
  • Planned Value (PV): The authorized budget for planned work.
  • Earned Value (EV): The value of completed work.
  • Actual Cost (AC): The actual cost incurred.
  • Cost Performance Index (CPI): EV divided by AC.
  • Schedule Performance Index (SPI): EV divided by PV.
  • Identify deviations from the baseline and recommend corrective actions.

Risk Management:

  • Identify schedule risks and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Assess the impact of changes on the project schedule.
  • Collaborate with risk management teams to address potential delays.

Training and Support:

  • Train project team members on Primavera P6 usage and best practices.
  • Answer scheduling questions and troubleshoot scheduling issues.


  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, project/business management or related field.
  • Proficiency in project management software such as Primavera P6 or similar.
  • Proficiency in EVM concepts preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., PMI-SP, PSP) are a plus.
