Job Overview:
As a Robotics System Architect, you will work across Auterions full technology stack, and will focus on driving a coherent system architecture that supports our customers near term needs without compromising our long term platform strategy. You will interface with our engineering, program management, and sales teams, as well as directly with our government and enterprise customers as needed.
You will push the state of the art in autonomous robotics, serve as technical advisor to senior leadership, as well as subject matter expert, mentor and advisor to engineering teams. You are comfortable in front of customers or a whiteboard, but you also love to build things. This is a hands-on role, in which you will be expected to deliver the solutions you design to production.
You will be working on large and complex initiatives with multiple cross-functional teams, so strong collaboration and communication are an essential part of the role. You are able to deliver results and collaborate on designs with technical leaders across multiple areas of expertise. You have a proven track record of high impact deliverables, but you don’t rest on your laurels. You value intellectual curiosity and continuous learning.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Work across engineering to build an autonomous robotics system architecture
- Support our government and enterprise customer requirements while maintaining Auterion’s long term platform vision
- Become a subject-matter-expert on Auterion hardware and software, including Skynode, PX4, AuterionOS, Auterion Mission Control, and Auterion Suite
- Create technical designs and deliver high impact projects, working hands on and collaborating across multiple teams
- Uplift the organization by working across team boundaries to champion engineering initiatives and excellence
- Ensure technology decisions, architecture standards and engineering competencies are keeping up with the latest in the industry
- Advise leadership on the engineering org’s health and which investments are needed in key expertise or technology areas
- Mentor your teammates in best practices for developing autonomous robotic systems
Qualifications and Skills:
- 5+ years of experience in architecture or technical lead role
- Experience delivering robotic systems (ideally UAS) on significant government or enterprise programs
- Applies engineering strategies to meet business needs and resolve technical constraints
- Proficient in C/C++ development on Linux platforms
- Deep understanding of L2/L3 computer networking principles
- Proven track record building high scale APIs used by other teams or companies
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and with all levels of the organization, including technical and non-technical team members
- Detail oriented with great technical documentation and communication skills
- US Citizen and are eligible to receive a SECRET or above security clearance
Preferred Skills:
- Exposure to PX4 software
- Knowledge of ATAK or other government-focused software
- Understanding of containerization technologies such as Docker
